tired Effective July 16, 2005, District of Columbia police officers will begin issuing $300.00 fines for drivers who cannot provide proof of insurance when stopped. An individual pulled over by District police officers must be able to provide license, registration and a current insurance card or a citation will be issued.
300 damn dollars is CRAZY! so make sure you keep your card with you at ALL times.

(I'm thinking, however, that it is not one of those offenses which they can use to pull a driver over. The courts are pretty strict in the criteria used.)

Im sure it will only happen with traffic stops or when u get a ticket.
